Overview:
Evolve Global Solutions partnered with Harrow College, the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA), Mikumi VTC, and British Council to develop an Enterprise and Employability Skills Passport for young people in the Tanzanian VET sector. The goal was to improve employment prospects and raise standards of vocational education and training delivery by creating a Centre of Excellence.

Challenge:
The challenge faced by the Tanzanian VET sector was to improve employment prospects for young people. The sector needed a tool to help young people develop their entrepreneurship skills and knowledge and to make them more competitive in the job market.

Solution:
Evolve Global Solutions worked with Harrow College to develop an Enterprise and Employability Skills Passport for young people in the Tanzanian VET sector. The project team consisted of trainers, students, education managers, VETA board members, and employers to ensure all beneficiaries and stakeholders were fully engaged in the project. The Enterprise Passport was approved and endorsed for national use by the VETA board, and all trainee VET teachers in Tanzania would complete the Enterprise Passport themselves as part of their teacher training course.

Results:
The Enterprise and Employability Skills Passport developed by Evolve Global Solutions had a positive impact on young people in the Tanzanian VET sector. The tool helped young people gain the knowledge needed for interviews, develop their answers, and become more competitive in an interview situation. It also helped to improve the confidence of young people by identifying their strengths. Additionally, the employers found the tool to be fantastic, and they were very happy with it.

Key Learnings:
The key learning from this project is the importance of collaboration and engagement with beneficiaries and stakeholders. This approach ensured that all parties involved were fully engaged and benefited from the project.

Conclusion:
Evolve Global Solutions’ work with Harrow College, VETA, Mikumi VTC, and British Council has had a positive impact on the Tanzanian VET sector. The Enterprise and Employability Skills Passport has improved employment prospects for young people and raised the standards of vocational education and training delivery in the country.
