Overview:
Evolve Global Solutions has been working with the Department of Higher Education and Training and the British Council to support four TVET Colleges in South Africa to improve their enterprise and entrepreneurship, leadership and management, employer engagement, teacher development, curriculum development, career guidance, and employability.
Challenge:
The South African government has recognized the need to invest in education to support the country’s expanding young population and revive the economy through education and training. However, TVET Colleges faced challenges in developing and implementing effective strategies to improve their education and training systems.
Solution:
Evolve Global Solutions provided technical assistance, training, and coaching to the four TVET Colleges to improve their systems and processes. This included training 25 leaders and 700 teachers and benefiting over 20,000 young people directly. The team also supported the development of 10 business start-ups, sent three teams to the World Skills championships in Brazil, and initiated a development program for Ford South Africa. In addition, they attended Nelson Mandela Day celebrations as VIP guests and were thanked by the Queen Mother of the Royal Bafokeng Nation.
Results:
Evolve Global Solutions’ work with the South African TVET Colleges has had a positive impact on the education and training systems in the country. The technical assistance and training provided has improved leadership and management, employer engagement, teacher development, curriculum development, career guidance, and employability. This has resulted in the development of 10 business start-ups and the participation of three teams in the World Skills championships in Brazil. In addition, the team was invited to Nelson Mandela Day celebrations as VIP guests and were thanked by the Queen Mother of the Royal Bafokeng Nation for their impact on the young people in the community.
Key Learnings:
Key learnings from this project include the importance of collaboration between government agencies, educational institutions, and businesses to improve the education and training systems in a country. It is also important to provide technical assistance, training, and coaching to support the development and implementation of effective strategies.

Evolve Global Solutions’ work with the Department of Higher Education and Training and the British Council has had a significant impact on the education and training systems of the four TVET Colleges in South Africa.
